Sebago Dockside – The Original by James McKenny
The first pair of deck shoes that were registered as a dockside for Sebago came out in 1947 and needless to say they have added greatly to their line.
Those that are new to boating may think that there really is not much point in spending good money on shoes that are going to be worn on board when quite often they will be on deck where it is damp and perhaps even wet. It does not take long for the new boater to soon learn that shoes of quality are required for this purpose.
Sebago docksides are the perfect choice for this type of wear. The most important thing about your deck shoes is that they are non-slip. Sebago dockside comes with a high quality rubber slip resistant sole, which prevents potential slipping accidents from happening.
The concept is perhaps that these types of deck shoes are really not very attractive. When one gets the opportunity to see the Sebago docksides that sort of attitude soon changes. This genuine moccasin type style shoe is constructed so that the wrap is in one single piece. The leather is of high quality and the laces are rawhide which helps to prevent the hardening that quite often comes with these type of laces. The eyelets are a non corrosive brass so if that happens to be in contact with seawater one is not going to have to worry about the corrosion. The shoes are extremely comfortable to wear and are easy to put on and off.
If one is concerned about the quality of the Sebago dockside all one has to realize is that these are an original hand sewn boat shoes. As far as style and fashion goes t they are many docksides available in a whole array of colors that are true vibrant colors although many are in the neutral shades as well.
If one likes to have a bit of spice in life when color is chosen then the sapphire blue and the dark pink make great choices. For color that is a bit more subtle but in richness perhaps gives a little bit more of a dressy look than the Navy is a nice choice.
For those that want something that is going to go with everything in their wardrobe than probably deep brown, Elk Tan or Ash Grey would be a choice although probably the favorite choice is the sand.
The Sebago docksides are well known for their comfort. One can wear these shoes for hours at a time and their feet will never tire. They breathe well so there is no concern about perspiring or the foot being overheated which eventually would cause irritation. They have a nice balance to the sole that is cushioned and this adds to the comfort.
Although there is no doubt that anyone that has had the pleasure of wearing the Sebago docksides would be willing to pay a high price for them, there is no need. These Sebago docksides are available at a price any boater can afford.
