Terracotta roof finials are timeless classics that finalise any and every roof, no matter the households’ heritage. Finials are an architectural device, typically carved in stone and utilised to emphasize the distinctive ornaments at the top, end or corner of a building or structure, and they come in every shape and form, from charming little frogs to scarier looking gargoyles.
Setting a stage for a haunted house, or demonstrating your homes unique character, these decorative items add a personality to every building. From subtle rounded styles to apparent pointed finials, certain styles can either contrast or complement your existing roofing tiles.
Some a little more ornate, then other simple designs, there are a large array of finials to choose from in order to capture a certain look for your household. The finials aside from anything else decorate the roof and it is an English tradition dating back as far as the 1800′s and possibly beyond that.
Roof finials are not only part English architectural importance and history, Chinese and other cultures have used ornate roof finials for their grand buildings and traditions for hundreds of years.
Unfortunately these artistic figures are dying out, due to modern roofing materials becoming extremely popular, however for those homeowners wanting to add a bit of misleading age to a modern home, these roof finials would suit perfectly. Associated with large Victorian houses, these captivating sculptures can add generations to any home.
Terracotta roofing tiles may not be for everyone, however to reintroduce these enchanting monuments would be a far cry from any catastrophe, but rather demonstrate how timeless these classics really are.
